Who We Are

Welcome

Whether St. Helen’s is your long-time church home or you are here for the first time or something in between…

Whether you are filled with faith or filled with doubts or something in between…

Whether you are looking to be busy or looking to be quiet or something in between…

Whatever your age, your gender, your household, your race, your sexuality, your health…

You are welcome here.

Our Why

At St. Helen’s we strive to proclaim in word and deed the good news of God in Christ and equip one another to grow in faith as disciples of Jesus.

We seek a deep spiritual life as a people inspired by the Spirit and following Jesus, expressed through a flourishing common life and meaningful relationships with the people and communities we are called to support and serve.

Our Values

We value being a loving, inclusive and accepting community regardless of origin, language, race, sexuality, or gender; working together for a common purpose; celebrating God through meaningful worship and music; generosity in both financial giving and service to our neighbours near and far; and sharing a relevant and lively Christian Faith with the world around us.

Truth & Reconciliation

St. Helen’s is located on un-ceded Anishinabe Algonquin territory. The peoples of the Anishinabe Algonquin Nation have lived on this territory for millennia. Their culture and presence have nurtured and continue to nurture this land.

In 2019, the All My Relations Circle gifted the parishes of the Diocese of Ottawa with white ceramic feathers. The feather symbolizes a commitment to building relationships with Indigenous peoples in a new way and the church’s journey towards truth, justice and reconciliation. You can find this ceramic feather displayed next to our church office.

St. Helen’s marks Orange Shirt Day and the National Indigenous Day of Prayer every year. We also seek opportunities to learn more about the role of the church in colonization and ways to move forward with justice and respect.

Anglican

St. Helen’s is a parish of the Anglican Diocese of Ottawa↗ and the Anglican Church of Canada↗

The Anglican Church is a global Christian tradition rooted in the historic faith of the early Church. We worship using the Book of Common Prayer and the Book of Alternative Services, centred on Scripture, the sacraments, and a community gathered around Christ. Whether you’re exploring faith for the first time or returning after time away, you’re welcome here just as you are.
