St. Helen’s Daily Lenten Devotional

“Waiting on God requires the willingness to bear uncertainty, to carry within oneself the unanswered question, lifting the heart to God about it whenever it interrupts one’s thought.”

(Elisabeth Elliot, American evangelical missionary 1926-2015)

Has God ever asked you to wait?

There are others ahead of you in line…
The time is not right…
You are not ready…
You just do not like my answer…
I have my reasons…
Be patient…
Persevere…
Not yet…

But as for me, I will look to the Lord; I will wait for the God of my salvation; my God will hear me. Micah 7:7

Be strong, and let your heart take courage, all you who wait for the Lord! Psalm 31:24

But they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint. Isaiah 40:31

For my thoughts are not your thoughts,
neither are your ways my ways, says the Lord.
For as the heavens are higher than the earth,
so are my ways higher than your ways
and my thoughts than your thoughts.
Isaiah 55:8-9
