Years ago, if you wanted a group picture, either one person had to sit out or some rendition of a tripod and timer was devised with the ‘camera man’ running to join the group before the flash went off…resulting in some very odd photos! To capture a memory of yourself on holiday, either your travel companion took the shot of you in front of the waterfall, or on the ski hill, or in front of the museum, or you commandeered a passerby to do the deed to include you both in the finished product. Now the ‘selfie’ removes the need for a camera techie.
Consider tracing your spiritual journey on a time line. Begin with your birth(or before, if you have want to incorporate the ancestral component) and take selfies along the route, noting major events in your life, ups and downs, joys and sorrows. Then think about where God fit into the picture…or if there were times that you were not aware of God’s Presence, when you were angry, afraid or apathetic.
Where are you now and where would you like to go…in life…in your relationship with our Lord?
For Further Reflection: Psalm 139:1-2 “Lord you have searched me out and known me; you know my sitting down and my rising up; you discern my thoughts from afar. You trace my journeys and my resting places and are acquainted with all my ways.”
