The Branches: Youth Ministry: Our mission statement, incorporating ideas written by the youth is: St. Helen’s Anglican Youth Ministry, “The Branches”, intentionally develops friendships and character, and grows in the Spirit within a safe environment while having fun and reaching out to the community.
October was busy for “The Branches” youth ministry. The focus for the weekly meetings during the month was Humanity. The leadership team has been enhanced with the addition of Berthorie Beauvoir who has moved up from a youth member to become a leader. Her energy and spirit are a welcome addition. Group activities during the month included a visit from the CHEO Youth Net team for a workshop on how the handle stress; very important at any age, and an evening of making sandwiches for homeless youth of Ottawa. Planning and fund raising continues for the CLAY conference next summer. The cost to go will be about $1000 each with 6 people from St. Helen’s hoping to attend.”
